Mounted like an emblem, the work appropriates heraldic codes to propose an iconography that is both intimate and political. The body as territory, the body as a place of belonging and of battle. The phrase of the title, my body, my homeland, condenses this idea: if the homeland can be appropriated, betrayed or lost, the body is the last thing that remains as a space of sovereignty. This work arises from an urgent need to link personal experience with shared history, to think of corporeality as a space of memory, resistance and affirmation.
